[Appearance]
6'2" and eyes of blue... No, I promise, we're not going to burst into song over Asher's appearance, here. We'll keep things as modest as possible in describing this rugged, handsome, chiseled young man... Really, really. Keep listening. It only gets better from here.
Honestly, Asher is a fairly handsome guy, though far be it for him to believe such things. He's not from around Mayhill, and he's still learning the ins and outs of what goes around these parts. He's got a tendency to over-dress. Not necessarily beyond his budget, but beyond that of what is necessary for his job. He has a tendency to carry himself more formally than most in the small town probably would. He doesn't slouch, and he's always very neat and precise with himself.
Oh, his scars might be significant as well. He's got a few of them, but they're mostly in places that aren't visible to the public eye. There's very little chance anyone in Mayhill is going to be privy to seeing those kinds of things, so just know that he's got some. They're on a need-to-know basis. Or something.
[History]
Can I just copy/paste some of this from what I wrote about him in the past? Fuck you, I'm going to! Here we go.
When Asher failed his initial newborn hearing screening, his parents were informed by nurses that there was little to worry about. However, the infant subsequently failed every screening given to him thereafter as well. After a full audiological examination it was determined that he was profoundly deaf. The child was unable to hear any sounds whatsoever. While hearing aids were not a viable option, a cochlear implant surgery was discussed, though his parents opted not to go through with implantation of their son. Archer has lived his 28 years never having heard a sound. He is a skilled lip reader who is capable of oral communication, though his preference is for American Sign Language.
Asher was eleven years old the evening that his mother opted to end her life by her own hands. His father was away that evening on a business trip, leaving the two together in the home. Asher was alone in his bedroom, working on his homework for the next day at school. Outside, a thunderstorm was well underway. Bouts of thunder and lightning occasionally shook the house and illuminated the space behind his window curtain. Each time, Asher could feel the thunder rumble within his chest. When the gun deployed in the next room, the young child believed it only to be an irregular bout of thunder that he had felt. It wasn't until an hour later when he went to check on the state of his mother that he found her dead. In a state of shock at the sight before him, Asher ran from the house, only stopping when he collapsed at the playground a half-mile away from his home. A police officer driving by discovered him huddled there in the rain some time later, but it wasn't until the next afternoon that Asher was able to convey to the officer what had happened.
Life was fairly unremarkable after that. His father didn't change much, and he continued to go off on his trips and leave Asher mostly to fend for himself. Upon graduation from high school he promptly enrolled in college. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Iowa's Master of Fine Arts program in Nonfiction Writing. He's written various anthologies of poetry which have been published and received some critical acclaim. So what the hell is he doing in Mayhill? Good question. Refuge, perhaps? A bit of solace? It's a place that reminds him of home, without having to deal with the people who know him from home.

[Personal Life]
Asher is a professor at the local community college. He teaches a smattering of courses, mostly revolving around the subjects of English language and literature. He's not entirely thrilled with his position, mostly because it seems as though so few people take a real vested interest in what he has to say. But it pays the bills, and for that reason he does it.
He'd say that his personal life is his personal business, but Asher really is a fairly social guy, when people are willing to give it a go with him. His mentalities don't always fit that of small-town Americana, but it is where he was born and raised, so he can "fake it to make it" so to speak. He's all about forming connections, really. After all, it's a pretty damn lonely life if he doesn't. And I'll stop there before this turns into a personal advertisement of, "Why You Should Love and Interact With Asher Elliott."
[Writing Sample]
Yay more random copy/pasting. And some ghey innuendo:
Asher had to admit that it had been quite some time since he had felt this comfortable around another person. The attraction he felt towards Kyle had been almost instant, but he initially hadn't known if it was the type of feeling that would lead to something good, or get him in trouble. He hadn't been able to read what Kyle's preferences were initially. Now that things were progressing, he felt more at ease than he had in quite a while.
The squeeze to his thigh brought him back around, and Asher looked up and towards the house that they had pulled up and stopped in front of. A smile slipped across his face as he looked at what seemed to be a very comfortable space to live. Briefly he took Kyle's hand and gave it a clasp before releasing it so the man could exit the vehicle. Asher did the same himself, and after closing the door behind him, he began to head around to meet Kyle partway.
"Are you sure that she isn't a wolf instead of a dog?" He teased as he traced his thumb along the back of Kyle's neck.
